Tap the record button on the main screen. StudyScribe will begin recording audio and showing a live transcript as the speaker talks. When the lecture ends, tap stop. The app will then generate structured notes, flashcards, and quiz questions from the recording.
Yes. All core features work without an internet connection. Recording, transcription, and AI processing all happen on your device. The only features that need internet are subscription verification and downloading app updates.
Yes. StudyScribe supports background audio recording. You can lock your phone or switch to another app and the recording will continue. This is essential for long lectures (50-120 minutes) where you don't want to keep the screen on.
StudyScribe works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. AI features (structured notes, flashcards, quizzes) work best on devices that support Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro and later, or iPhone 16 series). Older devices can still record and transcribe.
StudyScribe uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework, which is generally very accurate for clear English speech. Accuracy may vary with heavy accents, background noise, or very fast speakers. You can always edit the transcript after recording.
After recording, StudyScribe's AI analyses your lecture transcript and generates flashcards with key terms and definitions. Swipe through them to revise. Pro users also get spaced repetition to optimise review timing.
StudyScribe generates multiple choice and short answer questions based on the content of your lecture. Questions are designed to test comprehension, not just recall. Your scores are tracked so you can see where you need more revision.
No. All recording, transcription, and AI processing happens entirely on your device. Your audio never leaves your phone. We don't operate servers that store your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Open StudyScribe on your new device and go to Settings. Tap "Restore Purchases" and your Pro subscription will be restored automatically, as long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID.
Open any note and tap the share button. You can export as PDF. Share to any app on your device: Notes, Files, email, AirDrop, or anywhere else.
You can delete individual recordings by swiping left on them in the notes list, or use the edit and delete buttons within any note. To delete all data, remove the app from your device. Since we don't store any of your data on our servers, deletion is immediate and complete.
Most universities allow recording of lectures for personal study purposes. However, policies vary by institution and jurisdiction. We recommend checking your university's recording policy and informing lecturers when possible. StudyScribe is intended for personal revision, not redistribution.
